About the Event

PLEASE NOTE THE UPDATED EVENT DATE OF MAY 11TH.

As Women+ in Design PGH develops the structure for the next Racist Rebuttals session, we would like to hear from you. To create a space for meaningful conversations, we are hoping to gauge your mindsets and past experiences, understand the specific challenges you are facing, and learn what initiatives are underway in our community.

Please complete the survey here by Wednesday April 28th.

(Note: Not all questions are required to be answered to submit your responses. Feel free to answer as many or as few as you wish!)

Have you encountered racism, sexism, or other inequities in a professional setting and replayed the moment over and over again in your head? What could you have said? What should you have said? Why did you or others stay silent? In this interactive, virtual session will explore effective racist rebuttals and commit to speaking out against racism, sexism, and other injustices.

After establishing a shared understanding, we will examine crowd-sourced scenarios related to racism, sexism, sexual orientation, religion, ability and beyond that occur in the workplace. We will reflect and discuss suggestions from experts on how to best confront these acts and work towards being better prepared for the (unfortunately) inevitable "next time."

This event is in response to our community's request to continue the work started with our Antiracism discussions. Please reach out with any additional ideas you have to help us work towards a more equitable community.
